Biography

Sheridan Mackey is an active performer, educator, and arts administrator. Dedicated to chamber music, Sheridan is a member of the Tetra Chamber Collective, a contemporary ensemble comprised of five cutting-edge musicians. The ensemble is dedicated to presenting engaging performances to the Milwaukee community, collaborating with fellow musicians and artists, and commissioning new works.

Sheridan is an accomplished performer across solo, chamber, and large ensemble settings. As a soloist, she was named Runner-Up in the 2024 Illinois Young Artists Division of the Music Teacher’s National Association Solo Competition. She has performed as an orchestral saxophonist with Sinfonia da Camera, and was a member of the Illinois Wind Symphony and Illinois Saxophone Ensemble. As a chamber musician, Sheridan has premiered new works by composers including Patrick Harlin, Max Miller, and Tyler Favors. She was a member of the award-winning Roadmap Saxophone Quartet, as well as the Silvanus Quartet and Paradiso Quartet. Sheridan has presented at conferences for the North American Saxophone Alliance and International Saxophone Symposium. 

In addition to her performance career, Sheridan recently finished her term as an Administrative Intern in Social Media & Marketing for The College Music Society. In this position, she curated social media content while also assisting with the planning and execution of regional, national, and international conferences.

An avid educator, Sheridan maintains a private studio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During her summers, she has served on faculty at the Illinois Youth Music Summer Camp (ISYM). Her professional affiliations include the North American Saxophone Alliance, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, and The College Music Society. She received her Master of Music in Saxophone Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she also served as an Athletic Bands Graduate Assistant for the Marching Illini. She also holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Certificate) and Oklahoma State University (BM). While at UW-Milwaukee, Sheridan was the Music Theory Teaching Assistant. Her former teachers include Nicki Roman, Johnny Salinas, and Rod Mackey.
